The FIRJAN System, well aware of its social role in society and the need for promoting an ethical and transparent dialogue among all stakeholders, created a special advisory group in July of 2000, an organ called the Corporate Social Responsibility Council consisting of more than 40 important companies working in the State of Rio de Janeiro. 
 
The Council also created and implemented the Social Responsibility Advisory Group – ASSER to provide orientation and consultancy services to companies in the state.
      
The Advisory Group was created to increase awareness of the need for social responsibility attitudes and actions and orient businessmen in the state on the best ways to develop social programs as part of Corporate Social Responsibility Management initiatives. The Group also helps disseminate information among companies and mobilize their leaders to actively participate in social responsibility themes as well as formatting, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating social projects in partnerships with socially oriented organizations, private enterprise and public authorities in order to reduce the social inequalities existence in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
  
ASSER also provides consultancy services to companies related to Social Responsibility Management procedures and Strategic Private Sector Social Investments programs to identify ways to maximize gains in positive social impacts from these investments while improving the corporate image of  companies among the general public.
